The Elder Scrolls Wiki:What Elder Scrolls wiki is not
Talk0this wiki
The Elder Scrolls wiki is not the following:
We are not UESP:
Edit
It is not UESP. For those that do not know, that refers to the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages. This wiki is not them. We do not try to be them either. The aim of our wiki is similar to theirs, which is to say, we both aim to have as much content about the Elder Scrolls series as we possibly can. We differentiate ourselves from them in several ways. First of all, our pages are not searched for with prefixes. Due to the nature of the Wikia pages, our pages are divided not by prefixes at the start, but rather by what Category the page belongs to. We also differentiate ourselves in several other ways, such as having multiple language pages, and also by having an active community comments section, akin to blog comments. Whenever a new game comes out (at the time of writing this, Skyrim has just been released) we actively encourage pages to do with the new game, and speculation to do with this, however, there must also be at least some sort of link to verify the potential for this to be included in the game. Remember, too, that we are separate websites with similar goals. This means that stealing content from UESP is not acceptable, and will be removed when copyright breaches are found. We encourage editors, but remind them to make new content, not steal the works of others.
We are not a Fanon site:
Edit
Our wiki aims to have only verified information on this wiki. Whilst we encourage activity, we prefer to have verifiable sources from canon sources (See: The Elder Scrolls Wiki:Manual of Style for more information). If making Fanon articles is your thing, then there is a TES Fanon Site on Wikia. Join there, and go crazy :)
We are not the Bethesda Softworks website:
Edit
Our wiki is merely a fan-based wiki of the popular series. Content about the games, and in particular, Images and Books from the series, should be properly referenced as such, since they own legal ownership of said images. That said, we do have permission to include both on our wiki, under the Fair Use clause of Copyright. Images and Books directly from the TES series should include the following templates respectively: {{Esimage}} and {{Esbook}} to include a tag to reference the copyright owners.
