Elder Scrolls

Discerning the Transmundane

  • If you don't want to pass for Blackreach, you just have to pick a platter, head to the Tower of Mzark and pass through the gate and use the lever. By doing this you will be on the Elder Scroll's room, and just have to solve the puzzle.

    • Thank you. I heard about that glitch. I'm not very good at it, but I'll test it this weekend. Cheers. :)

    • I wish I knew about the platter glitch earlier! It's hard as hell going through blackreach and alftand when you're only at level 7.

Good tip though. Definately will help people like me who wanted to get the scroll early. :D

    • Getting the scroll early would cause a fatal problem. Supposedly, during Diplomatic Immunity or one of the Forsworn quests (forget which one), the Elder Scroll is removed from your inventory and is impossible to get back, making the main questline impossible to progress.

I'd personally recommend just using that glitch to inscribe the Lexicon for Septimus Signus if you want to do the Oghma Infinium exploit ASAP.

    • But, isn't the Tower's main entrance IN Blackreach?

    • Chronologically, yes. But you can use the platter glitch to clip through the gate at the Tower of Mzark and open it, go down, do whatever you need to there, and leave without even touching Alftand or Blackreach.

I have never heard of this glitch 'til now, but I did get the Elder Scroll early and it had not caused any errors I simply continued with the quest as expected. I did this because I wanted the Oghma Infinium then ironically lost the book later. I usually just do all the faction quests and the civil war and don't do the main quest line of the dragons because I hate fighting dragons.

Supposedly it happens. I'm just going to leave the Elder Scroll there just to be sure.

    • why skip blackreach anyway, is the best place in all of skyrim!

    • The lighting can give some people headaches and even cause nausea. On top of that, it's a pain to go through the first time.

    • I personally thought Black Reach was a neat little area and how it was connected to severel different dwarven citys, yet it had the potential to be so much more. I mean I'm not saying every quest has to revolve around it, but I never found any like lore on it or what it was originally before the Falmer took the place as their own. I just think it could be a hundred times more fun to go in there and look for a single little tower on the other side of the map for an hour and a half.

    • I just don't like Blackreach in general.

It's dark, the lighting is awkward, its ambience is distracting, and its denizens are a pain in the ass to deal with if you don't move silently and unseen.

    • That really is what ruined Black reach for me as well. I was just saying that it was bad in many areas of it, but it hadn't really have anything as far as story. Which I would have loved to see that would give it meaning, feel free to yell and scream at me if there was a book or tome that I missed which it explained why there was a city under many.

    • I don't remember exactly, but I think its page has some sort of background on it. If not, check UESP. That usually explains lore better.
