  • What are the best additions for your house? I'm having a lot of trouble picking ones. I really wish you could pick any three combinations rather than just one in each wing.

I've decided that I want a tower on my house, and I like collecting cool weapons and armour. I also want to get some kids in, do I need a bedroom wing for that?

    • You don't need the bedroom to get the kids the two single beds in the main hall should count (but where the Steward and Karl sleep then i don't know). If you want a Armory and a tower you will have to go for the Enchanters tower or Alchemy lab the page with all the details is here.

The Armory is cool but keep in mind the display racks and cabinet can be glitchy though so unique weapons are better kept out of them (its been ok for me but other people have lost items). The storage room seemed a good idea at first but the other rooms have so much storage anyway i regretted it in the end.

    • I've already built the armoury and I don't really like the idea of my kids sleeping in the same bed as my steward and bard! I think I'll go for the bedroom and just put in the library for the sake of a tower. There's already an enchanter and lab in the main hall anyway.

However the trophey room sounds cool. Is it any good?

If you've built the armory you can't build the Library. Never fully made the Trophy Room i don't even like the heads on plaques in the normal rooms heres a picture of it though. I had that odd sleeping arangement on one save (deleted it) i would say to build the full bedroom before adopting and if posable build the bedroom and adopt before building the single beds in the main hall just in case.

    • Im not really into role-playing in Skyrim (I know, its crazy). But that photo looks amazing! I have the Solitude house and I would probably pay another 15,000 septims for that museum thingy! Is this a mod or a DLC?

Its from the official DLC Hearthfire You get to build your own large house from scratch (with garden sable cow and other things) and adds the option to adopt up to two orphaned children the Solitude house would have a option for a child's room too. the DLC is pretty cheap too.

    • I would say the dlc is worth getting. You get a lot for the low price.

    • I just did different things with different houses. You can get 3 so why not personalize each a different way? I made one house my family house with bedrooms, storage room, and the kitchen, then another that was my magical retreat with the Enchanter's tower, Alchemy Laboratory, and the Library. Then for my last house I made my warrior's cabin, it had a trophy room, armory, and the bedrooms. But make what you want. It depends on your playstyle. My current character I'm probably gonna make one of the houses an alchemical retreat with the greenhouse and laboratory and what not.

    • All of my houses have greenhouses because I'm an alchemist at heart. very helpful to have useful ingredients wherever I go! Haven't adopted kids yet but I have 6 homes as of now so they should be fine with Muiri in Markarth. The trophy room is a cool conecpt but I've never gotten around to actually filling it up!

Too true. I placed a leather armor set that I had enchanted with Weapon Improvements on the mannequin in the Enchanter's Tower, and when I came back on my next trip, it was plain leather armor -_-

    • Armory is a must-have for me, though I don't put my best armor on the mannequins anymore.  On my new character I'm switching the northern expansion to whatever extends the outside deck around the house.  I think storage room does it.  The huge wraparound deck looks awesome.  Wish I could put my Alchemy and Enchanting tables out there on it.

    • My large deck must have been glitched because they connected but they still had the fence there.
