I think the archery is much better in Oblivion than Skyrim because sometimes, i dont know if this happens to anyone else but i miss a straight up shot when my target is standing right in front of me and i have it lined up right towads him

shivering isles to me is a bit overrated, there's some nice areas to explore and sidequests to do but much like dragonborn dlc  the story is just not even worth it.Â
Funnily enough i kinda enjoy KoTN and Dawnguard over those two.Â
are we talking mechanics wise as better or worse? well, in oblivion arrows were weighted, which means you couldnt carry as many as you wanted, granted most were .1 weight, but that adds up when you want to carry around 500 arrows and you havent put much into strength or have your gear enchanted with feather or glitched yourself with feather; in short skyrim is better, obviously because its newer.
I think he means whether the system of shooting an arrow or using a bow is better. Whether arrows are weighted doesn't really make the system  better or worse
I would say mechanics, Skyrim definetely. Speaking from the point of an actual archer (moi) arrows in Oblivion move WAY too slow and don't get all defensive about how they couldn't handle that at the time, Morrowind has close to the right speed and is faster than Oblivion.
Actual bows... About even with design and variation. Oblivion not so realistic but lots of variation. Skyrim, more realistic (If you think of Ebony as the actual thing [aka, wood]) but not as much variation.
And when it comes to crossbows over bows, it's just like real life, they both have pros and cons
Bows:
Pro: More damage (not counting armour pierce)
Pro: Longer range (Shut up, they don't shoot the same, I tested it)
Pro: Faster reload (You can pop of 3:1 with full perks on a bow:crossbow ratio)
Con: Can't have a pre-loaded arrow
Con: No armour pierce
Con: Over all damage (including armour pierce) is worse
Con: More arced fireing
Crossbow:
Pro: More overall damage (including armour pierce)
Pro: Pre-Loaded arrow
Pro: Armour pierce
Pro: Flatter fireing
Con: Shorter Range
Con: Slow reload
Con: Less damage (Not counting armour pierce)
So basically, they even each other out, just depends on what you want to do, Marksman or just using it to start as crossbows tend to be easier to aim in it's short distance.
I perfer the archery in Skyrim, the bows feel a bit more realistic (I'm into archery in real life, so I like that). Â I also like some of the archery perks in skyrim, such as the slow time perk. Â I also seem better in close combat with the bows in skyrim, I'm not sure why this is (possibly due to the more realistic arrow flight).
I hated the archery system in Oblivion. It felt rushed. Also the camera movement was rubbish (Even on PS3) so it was hard to line up the follow up shots if the target moved. Archery in Skyrim was way better.
YES!!! Â That's why I'm better in close quarters with a bow in Skyrim.
I had little trouble adjusting to it's mechanics. When i was messing around in oblivion 8 months ago i was dead on with my shots i just don't think as a whole the system was as good as it should have been. As you said felt rushed in some ways despite having a 4 year development cycle.Â
The main thing i disliked about archery in skyrim, is that despite having a target perfectly lined up, i have had times where the arrow would either vanish (due to range), or hit some invisible damned object. Archery in oblivion was annoying due to the short draw ranges. Granted these have been my experiences when playing on the 360
