Every time I hear "no on escapes from Cidhna mine" I keep thinking it's an Alcatraz reference, how no one can escape Alcatraz, or maybe I'm just making this up. Is it supposed to be an Alcatraz reference?

Umm, i can't trace the origin of the phrase, but it seems to be present in every "locked with the invisible key" kind of prison settings.I wouldn't reference it to Alcatraz; i would reference it to the prison setting in general.
Only in the sense that it hasn't been proven to have been successful. This Wikipedia list details the known escape attempts. All are considered failures according to official records, although one or two remain somewhat open-ended.

Whenever I see that title, I always think "No one escapes the Spanish Inquisition!" (Which would be a mis-quote from Monty Python http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vt0Y39eMvpI.)
What if I've escaped the mine and want to return to markarth after, I have done and I've tried everything yet the guards still won't stop attacking me

Same has happened to me
same with me is this a glich or can somthing be done about it
That happened to me, too, the game glitched at the point where Thonar Silver-Blood is supposed to wait for you as you get out of the ruins - he was indeed there, but just to attack me! I escaped him, just to find out every single person in Markarth had something against me.. reloading (to the point where you´re going to jail in the first place) solved the issue :p
