  • You know how in our world months have their corresponding star signs. Like how the Gemini's Minh is approx June an Pices approx March. I was wondering if TES birth signs and standing stones have a similar system e.g the Atronach is June and the Thief is March?

    • If you consider the sign Ophiucus, the thirteenth house that astronomers use to measure the stars' movement, we have our Serpent constellation.

Interesting, considering that Ophiucus is the snake charmer.

    • Damn you "A wiki contributor". Don't add to the confusion between astrologers and astronomers. Astrologers interpret the stars movement, while astronmers seek real life answers from the stars.

Yes, Ophiuchus AKA the Serpent-bearer. Its constellation is often shown as a man holding snakes. I think this was intentional.

You've got the superstition of astrology (which created the zodiac signs and "interprets" the movement of stars) mixed up with the science of astronomy (which created the constellations and "studies" the movement of stars).

You also got the constellation wrong. Hydrus("male water snake") is clearly the inspiration for The Snake. Same number of stars, same coat-hanger shape. Ophiuchus looks nothing like the Snake constellation. Not even close.

Stay away from the tarot cards and Oujia boards, kiddies. Go to the planetarium instead.

Where does The Ritual go then?

    • I put the birthsigns down with zodiac dates so there's less discrepancy between people with the same sign but different months

      Aries - March 21st to April 19th - The Mage - Rain's Hand

Taurus - April 20th to May 20th - The Shadow - Second Seed

      Gemini - May 21st to June 20th - The Steed - Mid-Year

      Cancer - June 21st to July 22nd - The Apprentice - Sun's Height

Leo - July 23rd to August 22nd - The Warrior - Last Seed

Virgo - August 23rd to September 22nd - The Lady - Hearth Fire

      Libra - September 23rd to October 22nd - The Tower - Frostfall

      Scorpio - October 23rd to November 21st - Atronach - Sun's Dusk

      Sagittarius - November 22nd to December 21st - Thief - Evening Star

Capricorn - December 22nd to January 19th - The Ritual - Morning Star

      Aquarius - January 20th to February 18th - The Lover - Sun's Dawn

Pisces - February 19th to March 20th - The Lord - First Seed

      You're welcome

    • I have a question. In the beginning of Skyrim (if you are perceptive at what happens at the guardian stones) it says ritual stone removed. Does being born automatically give you the stone perk or do you have to activate the stone to get the perk?

I do not believe that is true. It's just to prevent a glitch I guess. It wouldn't make much sense if you were born with the stone, since there is no effect until you activate a stone.

I'm inclined to think that The Serpent is representative of Ophiuchus because Ophiuchus is on the ecliptic but isn't associated with a month, much the same way as The Serpent "has no season." Also Hydrus has 3 main stars--it's a triangle. Perhaps you mean Serpens? Which happens to be the serpent that Ophiuchus is holding, AND it's split into two separate regions of the sky which may correspond to how The Serpent literally moves around the sky in lore.

    • Thanks i was wondering about this to match up my birthday with the sign

        Loading editor
    • I just felt I need to say this, but there's a common flaw in most your listings for the month to zodiac match for the western zodiac. A sign's month is determined by the month it begins in, not ends in. For example Pisces' month is February and not March because that is the month it begins in, same goes with birthstones February's birthstone in most countries being amethyst which also is the gem in most cases associated with Pisces.

Bit nitpicking I guess, but it bothered me to no end. So taking western astrology and TES astrolgy the match ups would be as follows:

Morning Star/January - The Ritual/Aquarius (jan. 20th- feb. 18th, element: Air, polarisation: positive, masculine, birthstone: garnet)

Sun's Dawn/February - The Lover/Pisces (feb. 19th- mar. 20th, element: Water, polarisation: negative, feminine, birthstone: amethyst)

First Seed/March - The Lord/Aries (mar. 21th- apr. 19th, element: Fire, polarisation: positive, masculine, birthstone: aquamarine/bloodstone)

Rain's Hand/April - The Mage/Taurus (apr. 20th- may 20th, element: Earth, polarisation: negative, feminine, birthstone: diamond)

Second Seed/May - The Shadow/Gemini (may 21th- jun. 20th, element: Air, polarisation: positive, masculine, birthstone: emerald)

Mid-Year/June - The Steed/Cancer (jun. 21th- jul. 22nd, element: Water, polarisation: negative, feminine, birthstone: pearl/moonstone)

      Sun's Height/July - The Apprentice/Leo (jul. 23rd- aug. 22nd, element: Fire, polarisation: positive, masculine, birthstone: ruby/carnelian)

      Last Seed/August - The Warrior/Virgo (aug. 23rd- sep. 22nd, element: Earth, polarisation:negative, feminine, birthstone: peridot/sardonyx)

Hearth Fire/September - The Lady/Libra (sep. 23rd- oct. 22nd, element: Air, polarisation: positive, masculine, birthstone: sapphire/lapis lazuli)

Frostfall/October - The Tower/Scorpio (oct. 23rd- nov.21st, element: Water, polarisation: negative, feminine, birthstone: opal)

      Sun's Dusk/November - The Atronarch/Sagittarius (nov. 22nd- dec. 21st, element: Fire, polarisation: positive, masculine, birthstone: topaz/citrine)

Evening Star/December - The Thief/Capricorn (dec. 22nd- jan. 19th, element: Earth, polarisation: negative, feminine, birthstone: turquoise/tanzanite)

Mind the elements and polarisations are linked to the western zodiac signs, so in TES The Lady isn't necessarily (most likely not) a masuline sign like it's counterpart in the western zodiac, Libra. And the birthstones can vary to a degree between month and zodiac sign (some match up nicely, while others don't, in that regard). However, as stated before, it is common knowledge that the month associated with a zodiac sign depends on the month the sign begins in.

And to finish it all off, a fun fact: in the western zodiac, New years is technically between February and March, February being regarded as the last month of winter, as well as Pisces (as stated before: being February's associated sign) being associated with death and the afterlife. While March, being regarded as the first month of spring, as well as Aries (it's sign) being associated with birth and rebirth. Another bit of intel: Pisces is in Greek mythology represented by Aphrodite and her son Eros, bound together with a rope, throwing themselves in the river Euphrates to escape the dread-monster, Typhon (Aphrodite, as you surely know, is the goddess of love, passion and beauty in the Greek pantheon). While on the other hand, Aries, is represented by Ares (the god of war) whose roman counterpart, Mars, is the namesake of the month March.

Needless to say, astrology is a big interest of mine, alongside mythology, tarot, symbolism in general and lore in general. So I just had to put certain things right, thank you :)

      Thank you ^^

I have since the post made this account, it annoyed me to no end, so I had to sort it. Though I was at the time thinking of adding more info about the zodiac and different representations and associations with the different signs for the western zodiac, even thought about adding representations within the major arcana in Tarot, but thought that it might be too much then and there.

    • I'm just gonna say (since there has been no singular answer) that the serpent is a rare sign that goes with all months but happens on random dates.
