  • as a true elder scrolls fan i understand how someone of a certain race could want to be on a different faction. like me for instance. my name gives away that i am a breton but my loyalty does not lye with the daggerfall covenant. like other roleplayers my backstory states that my 3 sword enemies are alt, orsi, and dwe. (high elves, orcs and snowelves) so i have no choice but to join the ebonheart pact.

    • The Alliances are rather unbalanced. I mean okay lets look at them like this

Daggerfall Covenant-Orc (heavy warrior) Redguard (light warrior) Breton (mage/spellsword)

Aldmeri Dominion-Altmer (mage) Bosmer (thief) Khajiit (thief/light warrior)

Ebonheart Pact-Nord (warrior (what type?)) Dunmer (mage/thief) Argonian (thief)

If you ask me it looks like the Pact is the most balanced alliance then the Dominion then the Covenant.

yeah but in the preorder edition you can be any race in any dominion. i get what you mean but even when you get the game after the release it still wouldnt matter. with me, im a breton and i never use the powers. like in skyrim. i picked breton because i always have since arena but i used swords and bows. i never used magicka or spellsword use.

not necessarily, they are infact balanced, every character/race can play as any style the player wishes, but the racial passives have a possible affect on the play style you wish to play, BUT in order to get the passives you must spend skill points. the racial passives arent the only passives to choose from though, you have passives in the three catagories of skill options; as well as passives in your weapons of choice, and armor of choice.

not to mention everyones health, magicka, stamina all increase at the same rate every level-20/10/10, the difference is every level you get 1 point to spend into either of the three, thus you can increase your magicka or stamina by 20 in 1 level or your health by 40 in 1 level.

    • I believe its 15/10/10 for rates of increase.  As for the racial passives, it is entirely possible to ignore them and still produce a sound build.  That said the racial skills sometimes have the potential to turn the traditional paradigms upside down adding to the versatility of each faction.  For instance, I would say that Dark Elves make a pretty solid melee/caster when becoming a Dragon Knight due to their fire damage and magicka/stamina boosts.  Coupled with some heavy armor and mages guild skills, you get a character that can take a serious beating while doling out fire damage like a champ.

Dwemer are not snow elves, that's Falmer.

    • I really like all of the Factions in this game. The Aldmeri Dominion is pretty bad in Skyrim, but they are led by the Thalmor. The Aldmeri Dominion is ruled by that one queen in this one. The Ebonheart pact has my 3 favorite races, but is the most unlikely of the 3 factions. The Daggerfall Covenant has 2 of the best warrior races in tamriel, and the corky little bretons. From what I hear, the battlfield is going to be ruled by MLG pros. Race and strategy are going to play a small role, but it really matters on how you play.

    • not to sound like a dumbass but if you choose one faction and obviously a race within that faction and a buddy of yours chooses a different faction and race can you play alongside him?

sorry for the late reply but yeah you can play with anyone. its like tulius and ulfric from skyrim. they are sworn enemies but help each other defeat alduin.

    • You cannot play with different alliances, no.

    • You can only play with members of other alliances using the Group Finder for Group Dungeons. You can't play with other alliances in Cyrodiil for PvP or in a PvE zone.
