  • Fun little game involving the dragon language.  Go look up your name's meaning, and do your best to represent the meaning with dragon language.

    I'm 'Annelise,' the meaning of which varies depending on who you ask, but can generally reliably be said to mean 'grace of god.'  I came up with 'Kiindrogdun,' born-lord-grace (I was kind of going for 'born with the grace of the lord/god,' but not sure how that turned out xD).

    Your turn!

      Loading editor
    • I'm Victoria so I think it should be something like... Krongrah simply?

        Loading editor
    • Well if Annelise is Grace-of-God it could be literally DUN-DO-RAH, Victoria/Victory could be Conquer-the-Battle = KRON-FAAL-GRAH to keep the three word structure or using an adjective instead of a 'connector' word like 'the' to describe the kind of victory like 'Beautiful-Victory(Conquer-Battle)' = BRIT-(KRON-GRAH) or with Annelise something like Shinning-God-Grace = VIIN-RAH-DUN or more exactly VIINVON-RAH-DUN.

      As for myself I'm Jonathan which could mean either God-has-Given = RAH-LOST-OFAN or Gift-of-God OFANATH-DO-RAH as I did with the other names instead of using 'of' which is not really a concept could use an adjective so Gift-of-God could be God's Great Gift RAH-LOT-OFANATH or more exactly RAHRO-LOT-OFANATH but didn't like how this came out so questioned the meaning what could god has given? or what is the gift of god? one answer could be life. Finally I came up with God-(has) Given or Gives-Life = RAH-OFAN-LAAS which seems more like a dragon name where each of the words has a meaning even though the original meaning is a little bit changed but related.

    • Mine would be Nahgahdiil (taken from my roleplay character Haz Nahgahdiil), it can be translated into two ways: Nah-Gah-Diil (Fury Vitality Undead) or Nahgah-Diil (Psychic Undead), both implied the dragon would be a furious undead dragon, and also a necromancer, it fits so much for my nature of sometimes being a control freak (well, sometimes), my undying persistance on things I care, and unintentionally reviving old page just because of typo corrections.

      Also, this: http://thuum.org/translate.php

    • Wel, when taking a name that sounds like mine (Jonas) I come up with JUN-AAZ translating to King-Mercy, but my name is actually Hebrew for Pigeon... so no idea how to translate that into dragon... Also the hebrew part made me wonder why every man in Scandinavia is called Jonas (more like 1/5 really, but still).

    • Karolina (Charlotte, Caroline in other languages). It presumably means 'devoted to home' or 'devoted to their husband'. It derives from the German words carl, charl -and that means a man. Or perhaps it just came to existence by changing the male name Carol or Charles.

      Smoliin -Passion

      Unslaad -Unending

      Ahmul -Husband

      Ek -Her

      Damn, now I have a problem with three-word name that has 'devoted' in it. These are words that fit most. I would try with 'passion unending' but oh well... Smoliinunslaadahmul? It sounds a bit odd and long. Perhaps 'passion' has to be enough: Smoliinahmul. Smo-liin-ahmul. Sort of fits three-syllable thing at least. Then, after these ideas, I thought of putting Ek somewhere. Smoliinekahmul. I'm a weird dragon, sorry :D

I can't find the dragon word for "river" or even "Water" but another interpretation for Douglas represents the shiny surface of moonlit water at night, or rather, "Dark Glass", so you can translate my name to "Dark Shiny", which in Dragon is Vul-Viintaas

      Another thing you can do, is what they do when transliterating western names into Eastasian. My name, Douglas, transliterated into dragon is "Dah-Gol -Aaz", which translates to "Push Earth Mercy", whatever that means

      "river" is "RATH" and 'water" is "LOM" you can find them in here , well haven't thought of the transliteration thing that is an interesting possibility in my case it could be "Jun-Ah-Thun" = "King-Hunter-Law".

      I tried, the name Marco can hardly be translated into Dovah name, however my surname Hazard can be roughly translated into Daak, but not consisted of three words.

      to make up the full name I have to rewrite Marco into Marc, middle name Mikhail shorten into Hail, Hazard stays as Hazard.

      The result is Jukyeindaak (Juk Yein Daak, Maim Hail Hazard), although it's much lamer than the name Nahgahdiil I suggested way above.

      A quick search on the meaning of 'Marco' gives that it could mean 'masculine', 'hammer' or 'relative to mars the god of war' so a possibility could be "Hammer-God-War"="TU-RAH-KEIN" well there you have some other ideas.

      Simply going with that the origins of the name in hebrew mean "oppresser/Destroyer"

      Al = Destroyer

      Moving on to the biblical meaning it can represent a dove, therefore peace

      Drem = Peace

      And finally, a second biblical meaning Jonah can also mean coward which could be shown by Fearful

      Zofaas = Fearful

      Thanks! I was using the canon words only, that's why I didn't find that one ;)

      The free man/woman translation is still slightly odd. Canon words that could be compiled to that meaning are: Stin -free, Jul -man, Dovah -dragon, Gein -one (to a single person or thing).

      Stin-Gein, Stin-Dovah, Stin-Jul.

      The song one is better:

Hmmm... there is also Laas (Life), Lahney (Live), Qoth (Tomb), Nol (From), Dinok (Death)  and other words that could be combined with them, just combine something from the existing words or use something non-canon. Alok-Nol-Qoth, Alok-Nol-Dinok, Daal-Nol-Dinok, Daal-Nol-Qoth, Daal-Laas-? are just some ideas I have.

      Well you could use some imagination like for example Fifth = The One Before Six = Gein-Us-Sok or The Greatest 5 in Skyrim=Lot-Hen-Keizaal.

      The problem with numbers is that most don't exist (currently unknown) in the canon dragon language so you have to take the words from the extended version, yeah it seems for now dragons didn't care to much about math. Or an alternative would be to push it with the imagination something like Fifth ~ 5 = Count-Hand-Fingers=Tii-Haal-Sinok (and yeah Elder Scrolls dragons have five fingers!) the more you know....

      If I took the meaning of my in-game name which is "Umbra" (shadow) it would simply be Vokun. Or Vokun-Ahvulon-Kaaz, taking profession and race into account.

      Any opinions?

      You could also go with interpreting straight as someone with pride (Kah) or glorious (Morokei).

      @198.150.101.52

      How about Al-Se-Folaas? (Destroyer-Of-Wrong)

      You could also go with joining some words with Onik (wise).

      Straight/unbound: Staadnau

    • I'm Ethan which in Hebrew means strong so I'd be something like Kiinmuulmahfaeraak which is a bit long for a dragon name so I'm going for Mulfahalun.

    • My name is Dustin and I couldn't find a meaning for it so i decided to see what it meant in dragon language and it means "Devour Free"

    • My name has, as far as I know, no meaning. "Milan" is something like "dear" or "sweet" and Vukas can be broken to "Vuk" and "As" meaning "Wolf" and "Ace" respectively.

      Really no idea. And Thuum translator ain't much help.

    • Mine is Oblaan-Pahdov (End-All-Dragonkind) or Oblaan-Pahjoorre (End-All-Mortals)

      Oblaan = End, Pah = All, Dov = Dragonkind (not to be confused with Dovah, which is dragon (singular)) and Joor = Mortal.

    • My name is actually a word in the Dragon Language!  My name is Brendon.  It can mean either prince or raven.  But in the dragon language it means specter. This is awesome.

    • Pieter- Dutch Form of Peter

      Only meanings I can find of this would be stone or rock related words so that's a good start

      Either GOLZ, 'meaning simply any sort of stone found in the Earth or QETHSEGOL, which takes on a more ceremonial meaning or even "Bones of the Earth" (Compound of qeth 'bone and gol 'earth )

      Besides the Biblical itterations of Simon Peter being considered the "First Pope" it was often a name borne of rulers or kings. One example I could find was Tsar of Russia "Peter the Great" who conqued Sweeden in the Great Northen War (very Skyim don't you think)

      This gives me words like THUR (King) KRON (Conquer) JUN (Ruler) SAHROT (Possesing Strength) LOT (Great)

      So any mix up of;

       LOT - GOLZ - THUR Great Stone King

      GOLZ - KRON - SAHROT Stone Conquer of Stength

      JUN - DO - QETHSEGOL Ruler of (the) (Bones of the) Earth

      Just imaganing a Dragon of mountain sized made of stone, an actual mountain dragon. Probably more of a fictional story or Aedric based entity rather than an actual living , dirt-breathing dragon.

    • There isn't a word for ash...or tree...so my name would be...

      Dun.

      Grace. That's it.

    • Duncan means Brown Warrior, so I guess Vul-Kendov which means Dark-Warrior cuz there's no color in dragon tongue.

    • Dinokunslaadin or Death Eternal Master (i think)

    • Since my name is Adam, my name would literally be 'Gol'. Meaning "Earth" because Adam was a name that was made by changing the Hebrew word for Earth, "Adamah", into "Adam" because Adam was created from the Earth by God

    • you know what, i dont realy think my name can be translaed easily, so i chose some traits of mine and came up with Vonun-Mul-Ruth (unseen strong rage), which sounds better than Vonun-Ruth-Mulaag (unseen rage Strength), but the second one better describes me as i have a knack for remaining unseen, annd my anger somehow gives me strength, i have done things while pissed off that i could never have done otherwise, like lifting over 70kg where i would normaly have difficulty lifting any more than 20kg

    • Hmm... my name is Nicholaos which comes from the greek words for "win/victory" and "people", it means "He who wins against people" so it's basically "Conqueror of people". So I guess my dragon name would be Kroniid-Se-Joor, Conqueror-of-mortals. I thought about Kroniid-Se-Jul, Conqueror-of-mankind, but I think that mankind doesn't include beast-races which are definitely people. So I went with Kroniid-Se-Joor (which really doesn't sounds quite as good as the sum of its parts).
