To me it's more a Chuck Norris trope, like "Ysgramor was so badass that he manage to eat his soup with a fork".
I'd agree with the first answer on the thread. My guess is Atmora and Skyrim used to be a lot colder, soup would freeze quite fast and Ysgramor was content with eating soup-flavored ice chunks with his fork.
The item is a Chuck Norris joke. i.e. "Ysgrarmor is so powerful, he eats soup with a fork."
The next game needs to have sporks in the world.
