  • Not sure if this is the best area, I just didn't feel like posting this in off-topic.

Use this to find the origin & meaning of your name.

Then, resume it in 3 words. That is because dragons' names are almost always a 3-word combination that describes them. Alduin, for instance, is destroyer-devour-master.

Then use this(set everything to "All" or "All words" and then search for your english word) to translate the 3 words that describes your name in the Dragon Language. Your dragon name would be the junction of those. Example:

My name is Lui, which is a variant of the french Louis which originates from the german Ludwig. Ludwig essentially means famous, war, battleThese 3 words translated to Dovahzul become frahkei, kein and grah. Turns out then that my Dragon Name is: Frahkeikeingrah (pretty big name).

So, what's your name in the Dovahzul - the Dragon's Language?

      It's pretty much dead, so.

And btw this is a much more accurate way of giving yourself a dragon name.

The mechanism is the same. Get 3 words and translate them to DovahzulI(look at the dictionary provided by OP).

Nah, the OP wants to literally translate your current name into Dovahzul- I mean getting a word that relates to you personally and translating that. Likewise, dragons had 3 word names but the priests had 1 word.

The OP(which is me, before registering in wikia) wanted to show how your actual RL name could be in Dovahzul, not giving yourself a new name based on what you think describes you.

The first and most obvious one has been mentioned several times, the Rah los dun 'god is grace' (or alternatively 'mercy' but I'll ignore that one). This one is gender neutral.

If you prefer to have an explicitly male or female version of the name you can leave out the 'is' and try these two:

His god (is) grace: Ok rah dun

Her god (is) grace: Ek rah dun

I considered 'death tree born' but I decided to go all out on symbolism. The yew tree was a very important symbol in ancient European religion, and it is even believed Yggdrasil, the tree of the world, was a yew tree. The fact that on hot days yew trees can release a substance that causes hallucinations, and Odin was said to have experienced a 'vision' after hanging himself upon the tree for nine days further solidifies this idea. Yew trees are often planted in graveyards, and was symbolic of the transcendance over death, as it is an evergreen tree, not losing its needles year round.

This is why I decided to summarize the yew tree as 'beyond death' to symbolize its significance in this case. My dragon name would be 'beyond death born:' "Zeimpraankiin"

Or if you for some reason don't want to say, look up the meaning of your name on the website the OP provided or babynames.com or something. Then see if you can summarize the meaning into a few words, try to get it down to three. The part I struggled with was the translator. You have to switch the part that says 'Dragon Word' to 'English Translation.' Make sure you look up one word at a time, and try to find one syllable words, multi-syllable words will make the name harder to pronounce/remember. Mine is Zeimpraankiin but it could have been Viidostreythkiin whih is a bit more of a mouthful. Also, if you can get symbolic with it, then that's even better. Remember that 'Greetings' in the dragon tongue is "Drem yol lok" which literally translates to 'peace fire sky.' So you can do whatever you want, don't worry! Or, just post your name and I'm sure both The Beautiful Princess Ashley and I will get right on it.

Not sure if this is the best area, I just didn't feel like posting this in off-topic.

My name is Nicholas, i tried the 'finding the origin word' which only has 2 words instead of 3 which is * victory * and * people * .

      How do I continue??

    • I had a few options as, my name's origin does not literally translate, but I went with 'Graagrathpindaar' as it was the most accurate.

Graag = Green, Rath = River, Pindaar = Land (specifically field/plain)
