When I first found Alftand, I hadn't really done much in the main questline past the Windcaller Tomb, so I wasn't interested in Blackreach nor did I know about it. I went becase I was looking for an Aethrelium shard. Even though I wasn't even at the ebony loot level I found a dragonbone sheild. Weird. Now I'm level 42 or so and I re-visited with the actual Attunment sphere I looted the same chest in the Cathedral and found dragonbone armor. Why is the loot so messed up in this room?

Some dungeons might have better leveled loot as their meant for you to find later on and Dwemer ruins do usually at least seem to have some good loot to back that idea up, adding in boss chests (if that is one) and you could get very good loot. Level forty two seems lucky but pretty reasonable for dragonbone but if you were say half that the first time then that does seem a bit messd up.
