For this item in The Elder Scrolls Online, see Trueflame (Online).
Main article: Weapons (Tribunal)
"Each was a magnificent blade, the pinnacle of Dwemer craftsmanship. Their blades burned with an unearthly fire, and the sight of them struck fear into our enemies. My blade has been kept safe, but not so Trueflame, the Blade of Nerevar. In the battle beneath Red Mountain, Trueflame was shattered, the flame extinguished, and in the confusion, the pieces lost."

Trueflame is a one-handed longblade and a Dwemer artifact. It was commissioned by King Dumac as a wedding gift for Saint Nerevar when he married Almalexia.[1] She possesses its twin, Hopesfire.

Enchantment ID: nerevar_blade

Cast when strikes:

Trueflame must be rebuilt, beginning with a blade fragment provided by Almalexia, who instructs the Nerevarine to find the remaining pieces during The Blade of Nerevar quest.

Karrod of the Royal Guard has an Odd Dwemer Weapon, which is one of the pieces. A Dwemer Battle Shield with a blade fragment embedded into it can be obtained in exchange for donating two items to the Museum of Artifacts in Godsreach. Once the three pieces have been collected, Yagak gro-Gluk at the Craftsmen's Hall can assemble the blade, providing the initial (unenchanted) version of this weapon.

Once the sword is rebuilt, the Nerevarine must venture into the Bamz-Amschend ruins beneath the city to have it modified by Radac Stungnthumz, a Dwarven spectre. He requires Pyroil Tar to reignite the blade, which can be found in two location within the Norenen-dur shrine. Once performed the blade burns constantly, increasing its base damage, adding a Fire Damage enchantment, and allowing it to be used as a reliable light source.

The Blade of NerevarEdit

Reforge Nerevar's blade, Trueflame.

  • After the Nerevarine recreates the blade, Plitinius Mero, author of The Real Barenziah, says that he will note this achievement in a new volume.
  • Despite both Hopesfire and Trueflame being surrounded by flames, only Trueflame emits light the same way a torch does, where as Hopesfire does not.
  • In Online, Trueflame is an obtainable one-handed sword. It can be obtained in Stonefalls via fishing, although it is extremely rare and only a handful of players have ever found it. It cannot be traded, either.
