These are the engraving on the shrines of the 7 thousand steps

Emblem I

"Before the birth of men, the Dragons ruled all of Mundus.

Their words was the Voice, and they spoke only for True Needs,

For the Voice could blot out the sky and flood the land."

this shrine is located right at the beginning, on the right side of the path.

switchback 1 passed

at the end of switchback two, two goats and a shrine. <3 goat souls.

Emblem II

"Men were born and spread over the face of Mundus.

The Dragons presided over the crawling masses.

Men were weak then, and had no voice."

switching back, now I'm heading west southwest again.

switchback 3, heading north northeast now, path swerves back and forth here GOAT!

the swervy part is over, I'm on a flat area facind south southwest, to my left there is a pile of rocks with a banner in them and another shrine

Emblem III

"The fledgling spirits of Men were strong in the Old Times.

Unafraid to war with Dragons and their Voices.

But the Dragons only shouted them down and broke their hearts."

several rock piles on my left, as i pass one on my right the path goes down for the first time. this section has a lot of up and down in it. the stairs turn left, and i see another shrine.

Emblem IV

"Kyne called on Paarhurnax, who pitied Man.

Together they taught Men to use the Voice.

Then Dragon War raged, Dragon against Tongue"

path turns right, long series of stairs. as i run out of stairs, the path turnes left and i see another shrine.

Emblem V

"Man prevailed, shouting Alduin out of the world.

Proving for all that their Voice too was strong.

Although their sacrifices were many-fold."

the path goes around the left of the shrine, then goes right. lots of stairs down. at the bottom of these stairs, there's two pillars on the left, one rock pile on the right, and a shrine straight ahead.

Emblem VI

"With roaring tongues, the Sky-Children conquer,

Founding the First Empire with Sword and Voice.

Whilst the Dragons withdrew from this World."

Does Sky-Children refer to the elves, or to men?

lots of up stairs here, another shrine on the left of the path, at the cliff's edge.

Emblem VII

"The Tongues at Red Mountain went away humbled,

Jurgen Windcaller began His Seven Year Meditation,

to understand how Strong Voices could fail."

the path goes right. i round a bend and see the walls of High Hrothgar. there is another shrine on the right.

Emblem IX

"For years all slient, the Greybeards spoke one name

Tiber Septim, stripling then, was summoned to High Hrothgar

They blessed and named him Dohvakiin."

now I'm at the last steps to the manastary, passing the chest and offerings i think i missed VIII, i'll go look for it.AHA! here it is! on the left of the path, hidden in a big rock.

Emblem VIII

"Jurgen Windcaller chose silence and returned,

The 17 disputants could not shout Him down.

Jurgen the Calm built His home on the Throat of the world."

in order, they read

These are the eight engravings up the way to the Monastary. I feel they deserve inclusion in the Wiki, but I'm not sure if they should be put in under High Hrothgar, or a new page called "The Seven Thousand Stairs". I'm also not sure what format they should be in.

Regardless, I'll leave those decisions to a more senior member. Here's the text, just copypasta it in wherever you feel it fits best.
