Link templates Edit

I was thinking we should make the icon templates link to the game-specific pages instead of the disambig (templates H, M, A, D, W). If possible, we could make the templates automatically link to the game-specific pages based on the infobox they're used in (since those templates are mostly used in infoboxes, like {{OblivionSpells}}).

Another method would be to pipe the templates (like {{M|Oblivion}}), which shouldn't take too long to do since they're mostly used in templates. --Shockstorm (talk) 00:57, April 30, 2016 (UTC)

I agree that linking to disambig pages is a bit silly. I also hate templates you have to provide games as arguments. I'm hoping there might be some neat way of automating this process without having to stray too far from the simplicity of smacking {{w}} into some article. Our biggest challenge here is detecting what game this is for. I'm hoping lua has some way of setting a global variable for a page that can make the template identify what game it is being used for. I'll be sandboxing this idea for a while before deciding on what approach to take. — Flightmare @fandom (talk) 14:03, May 1, 2016 (UTC)

Portable infoboxes Edit

Hey Flight, is there a way to keep the "Have an image of <name>? Then please upload it!" on infoboxes that have been updated to the portable format? For example on {{MorrowindIngredients}}, if an article doesn't have an image (such as this), it doesn't have that message. Since it's something that's usually on infoboxes to encourage users to upload images, it would be good if the new infoboxes had them too. —Atvelonis (talk) 19:04, May 6, 2016 (UTC)

Yes there is, looks like I forgot to add it to ingredients though. — Flightmare @fandom (talk) 20:25, May 6, 2016 (UTC)

KINMUNE was down last night Edit

Just thought I'd mention KINMUNE was down around 2 AM last night. I don't know if it was something wrong with the AI, an Update to the AI, ECT... Anyways. Just wanted to make sure it was taken care of, to prevent further issues. What is the Music of Life? (talk) 01:43, May 20, 2016 (UTC)

I tested something new, it wasn't a big success. — Flightmare @fandom (talk) 10:45, May 20, 2016 (UTC)

Hi, Flightmare

I'm having a Major Problem with the Editing. So I was doing work on the Location Differences in Elder Scrolls Online article. I was adding a ton of locations pretty much a Major of the Locations featured in Hammerfell in ESO which has a Lot of Places.  After finishing, for some reason everytime I finish editing and write what changes I made, the Screen would refresh and go into to Source Editor since I use Visual Editor and after it refreshes, All of my work is gone. It's pretty annoying and I need it to stop. I know using Source Editor is better but I'm just comfortable using Visual Editor and frankly, it shouldn't reboot to Source Editor only to get rid of my edits. Please fix it. Thanks for Reading. Vincentius1 (talk) 00:26, June 7, 2016 (UTC)

Revert Edit

Can you use that revert thingy on X-Mutant when you get a chance? Also blocking him would be nice, because he's continuing to add stuff as I type this... I know he can see the messages on his talk page, because he launched some drama towards Atv several months ago (which included him removing lots of messages as well). --Shockstorm (talk) 06:26, June 7, 2016 (UTC)

/D user ban Edit

Hey Flight,

Kun jij misschien even TheBigOne2206 een block van 3 dagen geven voor het spammen van de Discussions? Atvelonis reageert niet en je bent nog niet in de chat geweest vandaag, dus daarom vraag ik het via je talkpage. CarloV3r (talk) 14:10, June 17, 2016 (UTC)

Looks like Atvelonis took care of it already. — Flightmare @fandom (talk) 08:35, June 20, 2016 (UTC)

Unsigned issue With Blood Dragon Edit

User:Cook_Me_Plox brought this to our attention, me and Kora tested it, it's odd.... It only appears whilst not signed in, on Blood Dragon, It links to and it does not appear in either source edit or Visual edit which is even weirder, it's in the section Appearance, and on the Word "Dragon" it links to Http:// ... Kora suggested I left a message to you. Thanks TAOA 05:08, July 1, 2016 (UTC)

It looks very odd indeed, I see it too when not logged in. I'll ask around if someone knows what this is. — Flightmare @fandom (talk) 11:58, July 1, 2016 (UTC)
We just discovered.... It happens at other wikis too. Assassin's creed, Terraria wiki, Dragon Age Wiki, And Fallout wiki.... Don't know why... Perhaps it has to do with the word itself? Perhaps did something? IDK... TAOA 00:13, July 2, 2016 (UTC)
Not all pages with the word "dragon" has it, and sometimes it's on the title of an infobox instead of a word in the article body... The Weirdness goes deep!   RenzXVI // Message // Chat // 00:26, Sat 2 July 2016 (UTC)

I just found that it happens on new edits for some reason..., Click on the last edit. I messed up on the name, But it apparently has to do with the word. TAOA 00:41, July 2, 2016 (UTC)

Just found this as well... It even happens at non-existent pages... I have no idea what is happening.. TAOA 00:46, July 2, 2016 (UTC)
Solved!   RenzXVI // Message // Chat // 04:33, Sat 2 July 2016 (UTC)
Circumvented by inserting <span></span> into the word, such as dra<span></span>gon. Someone on RS Wiki wrote a module to handle it, but be warned, the function names are very profane! — TheDefiant604 (talk • contribs) 04:53, July 2, 2016 (UTC)

KINMUNE youtube spam 2 Edit

Someone used KINMUNE to spam again... At first she tried to use The Aspect of Akatosh's youtube link but it didn't work, then she posted a different new link so she knew what she was doing. Time = 01:56:34 in the log   RenzXVI // Message // Chat // 02:28, Sat 9 July 2016 (UTC)

Re: /d guidelines Edit

Thanks for the heads up. I've formatted our existing guidelines for that page now. —Atvelonis (talk) 19:45, July 12, 2016 (UTC)

Lore character infobox Edit

I just made {{LoreCharacters}} because the existing templates weren't so great. We need to choose a styling for that (I just used "lore", although that probably doesn't exist atm). Alternately we could base the styling on the character's race, like I believe they were trying to do with {{Imperial infobox}}. Also feel free to add fields from this template if needed — I think the "faction" field should suffice for most things, although we may want a separate field for dynasties and bloodlines. You're much better with that stuff than I am, so any help you can give is much appreciated.

And oh yeah, how's the connect thing going? Was wondering what it might be like in August. --Shockstorm (talk) 03:23, July 14, 2016 (UTC)

Removing Upload Option on Forum Posts Edit

Some time last week, I think it was, a user uploaded multiple images solely for forum posts. Despite being informed it was a violation of policies, he continued to do it. The last time, another user also told him it was against policy. He claimed ignorance and then asked why there was an upload option when posting to forums. I couldn't help but agree: why is there such a contradiction of both the media and forum policies?

RenzXVI found the solution. Add the following code to the MediaWiki:Wikia.css file:

.MiniEditorWrapper .toolbar .cke_button.cke_button_big > a {
	background-color: transparent;
	display: none;

This "fix" will hide the upload section on both the add image and add video boxes for forum posts.

Oblivion Jewelry Infoboxes Edit

Hey, je moet even naar een aantal infoboxes van Oblivion Jewelry articles kijken. Ik weet niet of de infoboxes er zo uit horen te zien, maar volgens mij zijn ze kapot.

Book templates Edit

Hey, we started a conversation with Shockstorm about changes in the gallery template at Online Books. He told about a bot, that is updating pages. I saw today, a bot has made changes in many articles, but not all. E.g. Fang of the Sea Vipers, Spikeball Handbill. So, question is: will a bot continue to work or will gonna have to edit articles manually?--Vitgar (talk) 13:45, July 26, 2016 (UTC)

The bot task is already finished, I simply did not know there were pages formatted like this so they weren't included. So feel free to update the page. — Flightmare @fandom (talk) 14:28, July 26, 2016 (UTC)
Ha.... Feel free... Sad to hear so much my work was done in vain and is need to repair just because of the template changes.  Vitgar (talk) 16:14, July 26, 2016 (UTC)
It was not done in vain, I encourage you to keep searching for broken articles and report them back to me. It is pretty hard to find all exceptions out of 2400 articles. — Flightmare @fandom (talk) 16:53, July 26, 2016 (UTC)

Elder Scrolls: LegendsEdit

Hey Flightmare!

I saw your blog post about Legends and figured I'd message you. One of Bethesda's PR folks reached out to us about the it and expressed interest in helping grow the Wiki's coverage of the game. I'm not sure what specifically they have to offer, but I wanted to check to see if you had anything on your wishlist. Card image assets, information, questions etc. Would be happy to forward any requests of that nature you might have to them.

Michael @fandom (profile)•(talk) 20:21, August 25, 2016 (UTC)

Hi Michael, I have to say this sounds amazing to me. I was actually trying to come up with ideas of the best way of presenting the most valuable assets to card games and I think any handle Beth PR could offer would be very welcome. Card images are always useful to us, although editors try their best capturing these at maximum effort.
Some things we lack at this stage is a good plain overview of all cards and information around it that can be used for deck building theory crafting. This is something very new to TESwiki, but I think it will be quite valuable if we could offer readers and editors such an experience. From my days of playing Guild Wars 1 I have experienced that a 'build crafting' section can be of great value when data can directly be extracted from the article pages (infoboxes!).
Now I know this is not something Bethesda can help us with directly, but if I manage to build something myself, it needs to be as information-complete as possible. So any form of information or any set of assets that Bethesda can help out with would be of great value to us. — Flightmare @fandom (talk) 20:59, August 25, 2016 (UTC)

Hey again! Thanks for the reply. Sorry about the delayed response, relayed your questions/requests to the Bethesda person and am currently waiting for a reply.

I definitely agree with your take on how to work Legends into the wiki though, deck building tools and metagame info would be great. As you mentioned, getting that kind of info requires spending a lot of time with the game, and we might have to wait for the community to emerge a bit before finding a way to work the deckbuilding/meta stuff in.

I'll let you know when I hear back from Bethesda PR, but feel free to contact me with any questions you have in the mean time!

Shivering Isles NPC articles zonder audioEdit

Hey, heb jij misschien zin om voor Shivering Isles NPC articles weer zo'n categorie te maken voor articles zonder audio?

Base templates Edit

I've been migrating some of the DLC templates to use stuff like {{Weapon}}, and I noticed that we don't seem to have a theme defined for Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles (link here and here). --Shockstorm (talk) 00:43, September 25, 2016 (UTC)

Those themes were originally defined for PI by Wikia staff themselves. Looks like they missed a few. I'll add them when I get the chance. For now just include the themes as if it were working. As soon as the theme is defined it will start kicking in so there is no reason to wait for it. — Flightmare @fandom (talk) 13:13, September 25, 2016 (UTC)
Ok. I'm using shivering and knights for the names atm. Also, we need a theme for Shadowkey, and also Online if we decide to use something other than the default black for that game. --Shockstorm (talk) 19:24, September 25, 2016 (UTC)
The themes were defined all along. They are written in Wikipedia:camelCase. I've changed the two pages you linked already. Are there more? — Flightmare @fandom (talk) 23:18, September 28, 2016 (UTC)
Oh ok, thanks. That should be it, although we could make one for Online (and possibly its 4 DLCs) if we want. --Shockstorm (talk) 02:10, September 29, 2016 (UTC)
Online is already defined (someone decided it should be black). I think we can always come back at this at any time. Throw it in the group and let's pick some colours for the DLC. — Flightmare @fandom (talk) 11:00, September 29, 2016 (UTC)

I think we need "oblivionMobile" defined (with the light green, see here). Also, should we make a base "Armor" template similar to {{Weapon}}? --Shockstorm (talk) 19:45, October 2, 2016 (UTC)

I wasn't sure how to approach armour yet given how similar it is to clothing. They are the same thing without defensive rating. But then again both are items so I was trying to find to ourselves some inheritance tree for item templates that makes sense. — Flightmare @fandom (talk) 19:51, October 2, 2016 (UTC)

I just noticed that the new book coding doesn't seem to autocategorize skill books via the skill parameters like before. Is it possible to add that/make Kinmune add them? Thanks. --Shockstorm (talk) 02:59, October 3, 2016 (UTC)

Discord Widget Edit

Could one of you admin add the w:c:dev:DiscordIntegrator code to MediaWiki:ImportJS so we can use Template:DiscordIntegrator to add widgets to pages (in particular in my profile :3) please? Thx anyway :3 ∰ High Goddess Venus-Afrodite-Finelia Ω Talk Chat! Ꮻ 03:35, September 30, 2016 (UTC)

Hey flightmare, I was looking through the old interviews with Jarjar, and I could've sworn you did one with him but I cant seem to find it. Before we begin, I want to know if you have in fact answered some questions. Thanks again.

--Madman97 (talk) 17:24, October 3, 2016 (UTC)

I'm not 100% what happened to it. There were many things to discuss back then. Not everything involved TESwiki. — Flightmare @fandom (talk) 16:52, October 7, 2016 (UTC)

Table Edit

Hey Flight. Is there any chance for you to upload a table to my sandbox? I tried figuring it out myself, but templates are not my strong suit in editing. Respond to this when you can, thanks and have a nice day/night. Starkiller131 (talk) 15:16, October 7, 2016 (UTC)
