Hey, I'm sorry, but... All of those recent weapon\armor images you've been adding aren't that great. The normal map(or something) is off, they look dull and not like they do in-game. They lack the special shine. >< Could you fix that somehow, or at least revert to the old images? Thanks in advance. Deolrin (212.150.174.186 18:08, January 20, 2012 (UTC))

Just because it doesn't look exactly like it does in game doesn't mean that it's not right. I recreate the materials exactly as they are in-game, the only difference is that in-game they're lit with the environment lights, and I don't use any lights in my scenes. I'm not going to revert back to the old images, I've been given permission to change them by the admins. If you wouldn't mind, please give me an example of which image you think looks dull, because I'd say this one is a little too shiny. There's really nothing I can do to "fix" it because it's not broken, it's just not being rendered in a game environment, so it won't look the same.
In addition to this, there is no 'single' lightning setting in game for the sake in generalising lightning. Skyrim has many different lightning settings caused by location and time of the day. So if two screenshots were taken from the game, they wouldn't look the same either. The only place that has a consistent source of lightning is the inventory screen, which displays items at lower detail levels than the real ingame items, making those useless as well. So in my opinion, the renders look way better, and when all images are up, they all share the same lightning settings and the new standard will be consistent. ~ Flightmare (talk) 20:26, January 20, 2012 (UTC)

Books (Skyrim)/Recipes

Hey, saw you went in and finshed adding the IDs and values, thanks. Also, I put the ~ back in the front of the ingredients as thats how they appear on the actual recipes, meant to add that to the edit summary, but forgot. Quick question, I know you told me there were 28 recipes, but the list you sent me only had 27 on it, not sure whats missing and was hoping you could check again. Anyway, thanks with the help on this, greatly appreciated. Neguy71inok (talk) 21:17, January 22, 2012 (UTC)

Hey just wondering where you got that image for the skills nebula without the perks I want to put it on my computer, but its to big so just message me back or something thanks ~ The king of war ~

Ingredients

Hello!
I wonder, where does the alchemical effect values come from and what do this mean (some base level with alchemy skill = 0 or what)? Thanks.
С уважением, Wild Cat (Поболтать) 09:36, January 25, 2012 (UTC)

I assume you're talking about the effect magnitude and duration for each ingredient's effects? If so, I got the information from the game's data files, it's a base value which, I can only assume, is multiplied by the player's Alchemy skill when eating the ingredient or making potions. I'm not sure what the multiplier is, though.

Removal on Glass Shield?

Hi, just a question - why have you recently removed the Location, Smithing and See Also sections from the Glass Shield page? These sections are mainstays on all other pages and should be included.

2nd point is why include 2 identical pictures for glass helmets (male/female)? It takes up half the page and any additional pictures should probably go in a gallery - especially when they are the same picture!

Jimeee (talk) 14:41, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

I was just doing some clean up on the Glass armor pages, with the infobox there, the summary section was no longer needed, as it's content could be standalone (and the weight/value/armor rating are part of the infobox). I didn't remove anything else though, just moved things around and reworded them to be a little more understandable. Location isn't really necessary on smithable armors since the location is every forge. I did leave the stats about smithing requirements, as well as materials. I removed the See Also section because it pretty much just had the main article (Glass Armor (Skyrim)), so I moved that to a {{main}} template. As for the duplicate images in helmet, I was showing timeoin something and forgot to change it back, I've since fixed it.
The Locations on some smithable armors is still useful as many newer players as they may not have the glass perk unlocked yet - or maybe some players (like myself) decided to take only one path on the smithing tree (heavy).
Jimeee (talk) 15:13, January 26, 2012 (UTC)
If you want to go ahead and add it back then go for it, but consider that generic, non-enchanted, smithable armors usually don't have a specific location, they're randomized (as opposed to unique or special armor/weapons), and lower level players generally won't find Glass Armor, seeing as it's the second strongest light armor next to Dragonscale. Like I said though, if you want to add locations back, go ahead. HaLo2FrEeEk (talk) 15:40, January 26, 2012 (UTC)
Some are randomised and some aren't. Northwatch Keep for example is a guaranteed place to obtain a full glass or elven armor set.

sorry but i dnt think changing the picture of the blood dragon would be better because its a bad picture, i f i can get a better one can i rpelace it (it wont have me in it)

New Book Infobox

Hey Halo...thought I would congratulate you on creating a great book infobox template! Not that my opinion counts, I think you did a great job, and it will serve us well now and in the future. The only thing I need to know is how do I use it? :) GramsJ (talk) 21:27, January 29, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know that the /doc files actually have instructions. I hadn't figured that out yet. I have another question for you. I'm fairly experienced with working with several graphics programs (PS, Illustrator, FW). How would you feel about giving me pointers on doing renders? Like what do I need and where do I start, etc.? Then I could help with the massive task of doing them for the wiki. tx GramsJ (talk) 00:05, January 31, 2012 (UTC)
I actually wrote a blog post about how I do the renders. It's a decently complex and drawn-out process though, and you'd have to have 3ds Max (with the Niftools importer) and Cinema 4D as well as Photoshop. Check out the blog post here: User_blog:HaLo2FrEeEk/Ooooh,_shiny! HaLo2FrEeEk (talk) 00:11, January 31, 2012 (UTC)

Glass Armor Renders

Hi, I just wanted to say that your Glass Armor renders are great! Are you planning to update all armors (and weapons) with 3D renders? Good job! :) TombRaiser (talk) 06:28, January 31, 2012 (UTC)

Thank you, very much, it's awesome to hear that people like them. I definitely plan to do my best to update all the armor and weapons images with 3D renders, but I realize that it's a mammoth task. All I can say is that I'm definitely going to try. HaLo2FrEeEk (talk) 08:30, January 31, 2012 (UTC)
Hi, again! What is the program you use to edit your 3D renders? (If you don't mind me asking.) I would like to learn to do something like that. Thanks. TombRaiser (talk) 03:35, February 1, 2012 (UTC)

Talk about images

Hi Halo. First let me say that nothing I have said, either here or on the other person's page has been said with any animosity intended -- only an attempt to understand. Thanks for the explanation regarding my images. All I needed was for someone to tell me they weren't acceptable, and I could do something about them. As I mentioned to the other person, I take a lot of time trying to get the character into good lighting before I take a screenshot, specifically so I can capture as much detail as possible. It's possible I need to change some settings on my computer screen so that what I see is the same as what others see (like maybe my screen is darker, or something.) Anyway, now that I know that my images have the "bloom" issue, I will take more care in that respect.

On another front, have you considered sharing any of your knowledge regarding rendering images? I would really like to learn. I have Blender, if that's the program you're using. I just don't have a lot of experience with it yet.

Finally, just a side note, I'm a "dudette." GramsJ (talk) 18:51, February 3, 2012 (UTC)

I guess I missed your mention of your blog post. I'll take a look. I can understand how you feel about "your baby." I'd probably feel that way, too. I promise I'll try not to "blow out" any more images. And no offense taken. I know Timeoin didn't realize I was female, so I thought I'd say something to you, too. Not a big deal. External links removed

Hello quick question, you just removed the external links section to the Sanguine Rose. This has occured with other items and quests as well, what was the purpose of this? Thanks -DarthNoobSlayer (talk) 04:25, February 8, 2012 (UTC)DarthNoobSlayer

Thanks a lot for the time-scale.

G'day

G'day Halo. Just leaving you this brief message to say - thank you for all the hard work that you've been doing on the wiki lately. Its very much appreciated. Random fact for you - this is edit number 29,993 for me.

Thanks

Thanks for adding new icon images for weight, damage, gold etc - the old ones with the shadows looked terrible against a dark badkground. Jimeee (talk) 14:23, February 14, 2012 (UTC)

Oops!

Thanks for the friendly nudge - I'll try to combine my edits and keep the noise down on the changelog :) Skkragggh (talk) 21:29, February 22, 2012 (UTC)
