IslandEdit

Duud, while technically Auridon is an island, it's also one of the main regions in the game, so it should be at "region", not "island". It'll just be confusing and unnecessary. Don't you agree? Ikabite (talk) 02:46, March 11, 2014 (UTC)~

Also, I was planing to go through all the location pages myself, now that I've added all the location screenshots I had. But you can do them if you wish, I guess. Ikabite (talk) 02:48, March 11, 2014 (UTC)
I added them in a somewhat hurry, so I though I'd go through them fixing minor mistakes and adding some more info/links. Ikabite (talk) 02:52, March 11, 2014 (UTC)

Past or Present tense? Edit

Hey, so I've looked throuhg the Online factions and saw they were being used in past tense. I was just wondering, should I get rid of this, or leave it? Because I'm not entirely sure. Thanks. Zippertrain85 (talk) 03:02, March 13, 2014 (UTC)

Okay, thanks for telling me. :) Zippertrain85 (talk) 03:54, March 13, 2014 (UTC)

Re Lightning BoltEdit

Well, I did restore it. Have to check when I get home in the CK too, to be sure. Or are you certain it is correct? —EbonySkyrim Message! 08:19, March 13, 2014 (UTC)

New pagesEdit

Calling all patrollers to please remember to scout the Special:Newpages. Right now there are several hundred pages needing to be patrolled as many new pages are created these days. I have myself done a lot in the last couple of days but if you have the time, please help. Thanks... —EbonySkyrim Message! 13:30, March 13, 2014 (UTC)

About the two Solstheim pages...Edit

When I looked at the Solstheim (Bloodmoon) page, the user Chairmanprescott6179 have taken some of the information from Solstheim (Dragonborn) into it and added new valuable information about the third and fourth era (probably because the Dragonborn page is locked now?). Now as we have two pages about Solstheim (being both locations), one for The Elder Scrolls III: Bloodmoon and the other The Elder Scrolls V: Dragonborn, shouldn't we adjust the history to the time where those two add-ons are set in? For example, in the Bloodmoon add-on we shouldn't have history in the fourth era as it is set in the third era (you know what I mean?).

Or we could just make a new page for Solstheim as a general page for the island, but I'm not so sure about that...ugh, can you help me out here SkyAboveVoiceWithin? what do you think? Nontheless I'm very confused of what I should do! :/ – The Snow Prince (talk) 23:06, March 14, 2014 (UTC)

Reverted Edits Edit

Sky, please in the future don't revert edits without giving a specific reason. You didn't give a reason for the revertion on the Boethiah's Proving page, and now I don't know what was wrong with my edit, that motivated you to revert it. Zippertrain85 (talk) 02:36, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

I meant to say "Once the Dragonborn reaches level 30". Must've not been paying attention when I did the edit. My bad. :/
But it's okay, just try to not do that as much in the future. That's all I was saying. Thanks. Zippertrain85 (talk) 02:45, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

Stay Fabulous :)

Re: ProjectEdit

OK, good advice. I'll be sure to follow it in the future :) SuperNed Speak AWESOME! 19:08, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

DelphineEdit

Nah, that should be fine. What would be weird is if you read some of the books in Books (Online), and realise that there's a mention-only Delphine that is neither of those three. That said, it might be helpful to have one at Delphine (Other) or Delphine (Disambig) or something. (CT time? I like CT's) :P TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 19:13, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

Nominating Zipper for patrollerEdit

Hey Sky, I think I've found a new candidate: Zipper. He makes many good edits, and he is interested in Online articles. He is active in all parts of the wiki, and could really help when Online comes out. Another member of the team couldn't hurt, frankly. New games are demanding of staff.

Edits: Zipper rephrases sentences so they can be more clear to readers, creates articles, points users to rules, and is generally very friendly. He is also very active on the chat and forums. He acts like a patroller, why don't we make it official? SuperNed Speak AWESOME! 19:16, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

Alright, but when he improves, he will be great. SuperNed Speak AWESOME! 20:18, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

Have I gotten better?Edit

Hey Sky, just wanted to know, am I getting better with my edits? SuperNed Speak AWESOME! 20:20, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks, just wanted to know ;) SuperNed Speak AWESOME! 20:36, March 15, 2014 (UTC)

Incorrect categoryEdit

I see thanks for the tip, will remember that for future reference. Which edit are you referring to? I'm marking pages as patrolled right now, so I'm not sure which one I corrected. But you're welcome Sky. Ghost Anubis (talk) 17:09, March 16, 2014 (UTC)

Oh yeah no problem, but then I messed it up after that lol. Ghost Anubis (talk) 17:20, March 16, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Stuff and thingsEdit

I'll answer your questions the same way you asked them:

  1. This page goes in to detail on what to do when patrolling new pages and how to handle moving files to a new name. I may recreate this as a proper article though. Took me a while to find it, but I knew it existed.
  2. Can you please ask Flightmare to add the "online" part to the Books template? I've tried adding it in on my test template, but it's not working the way I had intended. Flightmare will know how to make it work correctly.
  3. I agree, I think the characters should be listed by the cities (or region) they are found in instead of the by their province. This way we can use the province as the list category. We might need to do a consensus on this though, since there are locations that may benefit from being listed in their province and region; for easy searching. The Elder Scrolls Online is so big that it might require more defining categories. —TombRaiser SPEAK! 23:32, March 16, 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I'll make the thread on it. Just need to gather up my words. :) —TombRaiser SPEAK! 23:59, March 16, 2014 (UTC)

Stormcloak Shipment Cam Edit

Hi. I appreciate your cleaning up articles, but in this case you're edits are creating an error. The two Compelling Tribute quests in Skyrim take place at different locations. The Stormcloak quest takes place over in the Reach (between Karthwasten and Dragon Bridge).

Thanks

No problem on the edits, it's all a collaborative effort for the good. Just want to make sure all's accurate. Thanks.

Ma badEdit

My bad about the Blaise edit. I thought the anon before me added the "other" to the article for some reason, so I reverted it. :P, not sure why I thought that. Thanks for spotting it. > Flugsmith ~ talk // contributions ~ 20:58, March 17, 2014 (UTC)

New patroller nominationEdit

Hey Sky, I know I bug you with this crap a lot, but I may have found a new candidate: Draevan13

Draevan13TalkContribsEdit count

He's been helping recently with Online, he is active in all parts of the wiki, and all that.

Consider this. SuperNed Speak AWESOME! 23:26, March 20, 2014 (UTC)

Ehh, outside of a few minor edits, I don't see Draevan really doing very many Patroller duties. You can't give the position to everyone who edits on a somewhat regular basis, Ned. Being a Patroller is a tedicous job, where you need to Patroll the Mainspace articles for hours on end (hence the term Patroller). I don't think if Draevan is ready for such a job, when looking at his mainspace activity. Zippertrain85 (talk) 23:58, March 20, 2014 (UTC)

The Lady StoneEdit

Um... that one is actually a different lady stone. The reference on the article was for an image on the lady stone that actually exists in Glenumbra. I believe there is one in the Ebonheart Pact locations as well. Suffice to say - I think we are going to have 3 different locations for these stones for all of them (the Lady Stone just being the most convenient to uncover). It's similar to the Long Lost Lore issue - its the same quest, but there are three different locations to go to (because Aldmeri Dominion aligned characters can't really travel to Silumn). TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 00:10, March 22, 2014 (UTC)

Re:nominationsEdit

Hey Sky, part of the reason I nominate or try to nominate so many people is because I believe it would be better to have a larger mainspace workforce. It's basically only you, Ebony, Flugs, FWP, Ghost, and MHInfinite who keep up the mainspace on a daily basis. AutoBlood, Balagog, and Cheatcodechamp really dont do anything anymore.

Recruiting say, ten more users, would be better, because then there would be near-constant monitoring of the wiki. Fifteen or sixteen relatively active patrollers really could do the wiki good. Now sometimes I have a brain fart, as with Draevan. However, giving people like Zipper the rollback tool could help the wiki, I think.

Consider this.

Sincerely, SuperNed Speak AWESOME! 18:50, March 25, 2014 (UTC)

Alao, I have something more to say. Consider the wiki a town of 30000 users and IP addresses. Let's say that there are five cops to monitor the town. They couldn't possibly catch everything. If the tonwn hiredhad fifteen, nearly three times more criminals would arrested, speeders would be ticketed, and such. This is why I think it would be a good idea to do this. SuperNed Speak AWESOME! 19:40, March 26, 2014 (UTC)

Locations Edit

Locations aren't right. I messed up. Sorry. Was using cut paste and messed up. I think I mistakenly called a lot of them caves, too :l I was just trying to add known locations so we could start removing content from the Beta pages (those were new locations, but we know the region, so the regions all look more fleshed out) I blame editing whilst super exhausted :l TimeoinSay G'DayView my work 21:40, March 28, 2014 (UTC) Yeah. Waking Nightmare removal from Nightcaller temple Edit

Why did you remove the Waking Nightmare quest from the Nightcaller Temple article? It is a location that is visited during that quest, so it definitely belongs there.Cubears (talk) 00:29, March 30, 2014 (UTC)

But the Locations article standard Style and formatting/Locations says that quests should be listed in a separate quests section. This is so that people can quickly see which quests are involved in any location.Cubears (talk) 00:37, March 30, 2014 (UTC)
Never mind - that's better now. There just needs to be a "Quests" section.Cubears (talk) 00:39, March 30, 2014 (UTC)
Gotta love English... :-) If I wasn't raised speaking it, I'd much prefer something else. The "rules" (such as they are) are often insane. Cubears (talk) 00:44, March 30, 2014 (UTC)
That may be, but the trade off is that English is so imprecise. That's why we need armies of lawyers - if you try to say something the easy way, there are multiple ways to interpret it, so instead laywers just keep loading on the words untl a single sentence becomes several paragraphs. I write software for a living - I often wish I could write legal documents in Java, because you could then test them. ;-) Cubears (talk) 01:00, March 30, 2014 (UTC)

ThanksEdit

Thanks for tipping me off on Timeoin's talk page. I had no idea that this was badgehunting, and the last thing I need right now is to be accused of it again. SuperNed Speak AWESOME! 02:04, March 30, 2014 (UTC)

Aldmeri Dominion MembersEdit

Hey Sky, just making sure you are awar that the category 'Aldmeri Dominion Members' is used for userboxes. Maybe it would be better to create a new category or use the 'Online: Aldmeri Dominion' category. Flugsmith (talk) 17:25, April 1, 2014 (UTC)

Woops, no, I didn't know. I created the proper category now, as "Online: Aldmeri Dominion", like its similar categories for Skyrim, should only be used for critical Dominion articles. Thanks for the heads-up. —Sky Above,Voice Within · Show thy Voice! 17:40, April 1, 2014 (UTC)

Speculation on Aventus Aretino Edit

Why are you saying that the sentence "This is possibly due to his name," is not speculation? The word "possibly" automatically makes it speculation. Unless someone has hard evidence (like a Bethesda blog post) that says specifically why he is sometimes called an Imperial, this is speculation and needs to be removed. If you really thing it's not speculation, then the proper thing is to remove the word "possibly", but again, we need hard evidence to make that change. Cubears (talk) 06:32, April 2, 2014 (UTC)

Where is the reference to anything that explains names common for Imperials, or that explains the structure of Imperial names? My main issue is with the work "possibly." Even changing it to something like, "... the name sounds Imperial..." would be much better, because "possibly" just screams "speculation." After all, it's definition is "used to say something might happen, exist, or be true but is not certain" (from the Merriam Webster dictionary). However, I think a reference is needed - I think most people have no idea what makes a name sound Imperial, Nord, etc.Cubears (talk) 02:40, April 3, 2014 (UTC)
Thank you - that's much better. Cubears (talk) 02:51, April 3, 2014 (UTC)

RaceEdit

Hi Sky, how do you see what race they are in Online unless it's obvious (Orc, khajiit). Or is it as simple as there are no other races in Daggerfall than those three mentioned, Redguard, Breton and Orc? —EbonySkyrim Message! 06:39, April 3, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks Edit

Hey thanks for cleaning up those pages I put up, I'm not very good at editing. There's more that I'm making so there won't be broken links. Assassin'sArt (talk) 20:03, April 3, 2014 (UTC)

Hahaha, new? I was on the wiki before you were man. I just don't do a lot of uploading or main edits. But anyway yeah I'll change the format. Assassin'sArt (talk) 20:26, April 3, 2014 (UTC)

Removing crosshair from TESO imagesEdit

The Elder Scrolls Online does not allow to desactivate the crosshair, there is some problem if it is seamlessly removed from the image with an editor?      Diogo Morales (talk) 00:54, April 4, 2014 (UTC)

The Player?Edit

I have seen you make changes to pages regarding the word or ohrase "the player", which is fine. I just would like to know if using "the player" is acceptable with bug sections. Can it be used in bug sections as a way to try and prevent breaking the 4th wall while still being in an encyclopedic and historic tone (e. g. The Hero can sometimes fall through the floor, changed to: The player can sometimes fall through the floor)? Or should it only be used refering to the real-life player using things like console commands, or removing disks, or altering Hard Drives or memory? Plase let me know, as it would help me out greatly. Thanks! :P Jacen Veron (talk) 14:34, April 4, 2014 (UTC)

Factual correction Edit

Hi there. I am really not familiar with wikis or wiki writing, so I am not sure I am doing this correctly. I apologize if I am not.

Late last night I ran into a problem on Skyrim, having entered the Battle of Whiterun on the side of the Empire. Lydia is my Dragonborn's wife, and I've adopted Sophie and Lucia. Before the battle began, Lydia went into the house and was impossible to remove from it. I made a thread requesting assistance, and you graciously gave me the console commands to bring Lydia to me. This workaround failed, as when I went to the battle site and had Lydia come to me using the console, she went to the Whiterun gates, attempting to enter but being unable to. After several hours trying to work my saved files to prevent this from happening, I went through with the battle without Lydia, and she came back when I went to Castle Dour to see General Tullius.

I've had this scenario before, but Lydia would go in Breezehome AFTER the battle, and only momentarily; going inside got her back with no effort. I had Lucia as my adopted daughter then, and in this glitched happening I had Sophie too. I do not think this is deliberate coding to make Lydia as the children's mom stay home during the battle to comfort them, because when I go to Solitude she is not with me, but when I enter Castle Dour, she is. It seems she somehow got confused for the townfolk, as she was doing what they were doing at the very start of the battle by going into her house.

I wrote up a glitch under the Lydia entry, but since I don't know wiki writing very well I was hoping you could take a look at it. Some of the information I have doesn't seem appropriate for Wiki writing, so I was perhaps more vague than was necessary.

Thank you for your help last night. I ended up resolving the situation on my own, but I appreciate your help since you didn't have to, especially that late at night.

Derimed (talk) 17:16, April 4, 2014 (UTC)

Factual correction Edit

Hi there! I hope you don't mind me asking for help again.

You helped me with a bug several days ago -- thank you! I wrote up the bug entry, and you graciously corrected some cosmetic errors that I do not know how to correct -- turning words into links, and placing the proper symbol marking the entry as a PC bug.

I found another bug, whereby wearing the Masque of Clavicus Vile while seeking Speech training causes the Dragonborn to be unable to receive the training. I was wondering if you might be willing to clean up the entry so it conforms to proper Wiki standards.

I am very new to Wiki writing and don't know how to turn a name or phrase into a link.

Thanks again for your help.

Re: ItalicizationEdit

Hi Sky, yes but it doesn't mean we all just go there and do it. Tomb will set her bot to fix it, those that have the <i> used. Hopefully it can be done like Balagog suggested for the other method used. But if you need to edit the article, like with the online books, you can remove it as you are already editing. —EbonySkyrim Message! 05:15, April 18, 2014 (UTC)
