Uttering Hills Cave is a cave in Skyrim. It is located southwest of Anga's Mill in the hold of The Pale.

OverviewEdit

The cave is nestled at the top of a snowy mountain pass with a couple of bandit tents out front. The cave entrance leads to a natural stone tunnel which opens into a large cavern that is open to the sky with passages leading to the left and right. Both passages lead to a second cavern with a worked stone entry into a ruined fort/prison.

The fort is composed of stairs leading down to several rooms which is the main living area of the local bandit chief. There is a dining room, barracks room, and prison area with three cells that are opened via pull chains.

QuestsEdit

• Shahvee, found at the Windhelm Docks, may send the Dragonborn to Uttering Hills Cave on a miscellaneous quest to retrieve her amulet. Lost Knife Hideout is another possible location.
• If given Shahvee's quest first do not venture beyond the area where her Amulet is found. Venturing further and looting Linwe's body before the Thieves Guild Summerset Shadows quest is given, could result in the Silver Locket being locked permanently as a quest item in the inventory as well as the quest becoming non-completable.
• Kill the Bandit Leader - Given by Kjar in Windhelm.
• Uttering Hills Cave is one of the places Annekke Crag-Jumper may send the Dragonborn to for her quest.
• The Dragonborn may be sent here to find The Forgemaster's Fingers.
• The Dragonborn may be sent here to find one of the rings in the Rings of Blood Magic quest.
• Find Roggi Knot-Beard's Ancestral Shield.
• The Dragonborn is sent here in Summerset Shadows.
• The Dragonborn may be sent here for Enhanced Crossbow Schematics in Ancient Technology in Dawnguard.

TriviaEdit

• Before entering the ruins inside of the cave there is everything needed to earn the Achievement/Trophy "Hard Worker" as there is a chopping block, cooking pot and corundum ore.
• It is recommended to do any quests involved here before Summerset Shadows, as the group will still be here for the rest of the game.
