The War of the Isle was ostensibly fought between the Maormer of Pyandonea and the Altmer of the Summerset Isles ^[1], from which the name of the War originates^[1]. The battle itself occurred in 3E 110 ^[1], and "very nearly wiped out the Altmer" ^[1]. They had to call in support from the Psijic Order ^[1] and the Empire in order to defeat the threat. ^[1] This battle is often used as an example of how the Altmer's power, particularly its Naval power, has diminished under the Third Empire of Tamriel. ^[1]
