Weapons are items used to deal damage in The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Each weapon type is governed by a skill, which increases the damage dealt by weapons, as well as unlocks certain perks when that skill reaches a specific level. There are about four different forms of handheld weapons (excluding fists), and three throwable forms of weapons in Morrowind.

Comparisons with other gamesEdit

Unlike more recent titles, such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls V: Dawnguard, weapons cannot be forged via the Smithing skill.

Morrowind was the first Elder Scrolls game to employ Crossbows. The weapon was removed from Skyrim and Oblivion, but resurfaced in Skyrim's first plug-in, Dawnguard. Morrowind was the only title to employ the Spear skill and weapon type.

Skills governing weapons such as Short Blade and Long Blade were combined in Morrowind's spiritual successor, Oblivion to form the skill, Blade. In Skyrim weapon-specific skills evolved to match their handedness.

For two-handed weapons, Morrowind had battle axes, warhammers, spears, staves, and longer swords called claymores. For one-handed weapons, Morrowind had shortswords, longswords, maces, daggers, and war axes. Bows employed various types of arrows, include Viper Arrows which were unique to the game. Other projectiles included throwing stars, bolts fired by crossbows, throwing knives, and darts.
