Locating the Hall of the DeadEdit

Upon entering Whiterun, travel up the stairs in between the Whiterun Guard's Barracks and the Drunken Huntsmen. The Hall of the Dead is located at the back of this level, near the steps to Dragonsreach.

Enemies and collectiblesEdit

The only enemies in this area will be Skeletons . However, there is a very low concentration of them. Upon  first enter the Catacombs, there will only be 2 or 3 Skeletons (depending on the chosen difficulty). They drop Bone Meal, and a variety of Ancient Nord Weapons. Many of the coffins contain gold coins, goblets, platters, and embalming tools.

When walking into the catacombs, to the left, there is an iron door. Behind it there are 2 coin purses and a book called 'The Death Blow of Abernanit', which will increase blocking skill. Upon going down the stairs, there is an Unusual Gem next to a skeleton. Behind the next door on the same level are 2 tables with wreaths. The right one holds Andurs' Amulet of Arkay, a quest item involved in the miscellaneous quest found in the Hall of the Dead in Whiterun. However, this will not be available until the quest has been received (for example, there is no one in the hall at night, so there is no one to grant the quest).

TriviaEdit

  • If you kill citizens of Whiterun they will be buried in the Catacomb's coffins and burial urns, along with their belongings. Unlike in other Halls of the Dead, the dead person's coffin is named (in other Halls of the Dead, one can only guess whose coffin it is based on the objects found inside).
  • The Skeletons' weak attacks combined with the location inside Whiterun make this an excellent place to level armor, blocking, and restoration skills early. Just be sure not to kill the Skeletons.
