The Winterhold Rebellion was a rebellion within the Reman Empire which occurred in 1E 2804. The primary causes of the war were the implementation and strict enforcement of overwhelming levies on the vassals of the Empire by Emperor Kastav. Claiming that obeying the Emperor would break their Oath of Allegiance, the Dragonguard refused to help quell the uprising, and supplies to Sky Haven Temple were cut off. In 1E 2805, he laid siege to the temple,[1] a process which would continue until his deposition by Reman Cyrodiil II in 1E 2806.[1][2]
