After relenting warfare and a devastating plague from the island of Thras in 1E 2714, Valenwood fell to the Reman Empire. In an attempt to make sure that the Bosmer did not unite against their invaders, the Empire granted independence to each treethane of the Camoran Dynasty, including Woodhearth. At the end of the First Era, Woodhearth rose from being a local trading post to a full-fledged power in its own right.
During the Five Year War in the Third Era, the armies of the Summerset Isles had surrounded Woodhearth where they were in the process of starving its citizens until they surrendered. The Bosmer's cannibalism made this a tiresome prospect.
- An expelled Psijic from Artaeum, called Welleg, made his way through Woodhearth in the year 1E 2920.
- In the year 3E 397, an original copy of Dirith Yalmillhiad is said to have been in the possession of a Bosmer in Woodhearth.
