"It's a sword. I made it for the Jarl, Balgruuf the Greater. It's a surprise, and I don't even know if he'll accept it."
Adrianne Avenicci[src]

Greatsword for a Great Man is a quest available in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It is a miscellaneous quest received from Adrianne Avenicci in Whiterun. She asks the Dragonborn to deliver a sword that she forged to her father, Proventus Avenicci, to give as a gift to Jarl Balgruuf the Greater.

Objectives[]

  1. Deliver the sword to Proventus Avenicci

Walkthrough[]

Go to Warmaiden's and speak to Adrianne Avenicci. She will give the Dragonborn Jarl Balgruuf the Greater's steel greatsword.

Go to Dragonsreach and meet Avenicci, tell him what his daughter wants, and give him the sword. In return, he offers 20 Gold as a reward. If Whiterun is captured after siding with the Stormcloaks during the Civil War, then Jarl Balgruuf and Avenicci reside in the basement of the Blue Palace in Solitude.
