What is so wrong with that? Does the RP community really need to be here in the first place?

My point is that it isn't a true compromise. It ensures that the RP board will eventually be removed, despite the original overwhelming consensus that opposed the motion.

I have a question for Dark Jeto - How do we know that it will end as you have outlined above? I have to say that your logic is rather sound but what's to say that they won't come back?
I mean, yes they might spend the majority of the time on the other RP wikis out there but maybe they will enjoy coming back because it is here where it began (or at least, from what I gather) and where the RP starts so it is required to stay (unless the other wiki's want to change that later on).
What I'm saying is that I think it's not guaranteed to end the way you say neither is it guaranteed that the community will simply oust the RP thread from the forums in the future.

There would be little to no actual incentive for them to keep coming back. At first, the hub might be the most used method, but eventually the roleplayers that come to this site exclusively, or mostly, for roleplay will find that it is simply easier to create their threads on the other wikias.
Also, I wouldn't blame them if they refused to come back because of how they were treated. Looking at the original thread, you can see just how some members of this community treated roleplayers with disdain. Honestly, I was rather disgusted at some of the comments. Now, to be fair there were certainly attacks from both sides. But the only real reason the roleplayers stuck around as long as they did, was because the RP board was as strong as it was. As soon as they realize that it is simply easier to remain exclusively on actual RP dedicated wikias now that the actual threads will not be hosted on this one, they'll do so. Now whether or not the sudden loss will actually be a significant one is up to one's own interpretation. But they're not going to keep coming to a wikia that doesn't treat them like they are welcome.

Again, you have another point there. That is what I mean about the RP wiki's changing how they want to connect with this one. Some might be prefer to start and continue their RP's on a single wiki instead of jumping back and forth between two. However this is the compromise I guess, as those that don't want the thread to go will get to keep it and those that want to leave can do so without having to lose all their nostalgic RP's.
After looking at the original thread that you have suggested I agree that harsh words were exchanged by both sides which is a most regrettable thing to see. As you may have noticed I have not been a member here for very long and so I know little about this matter in comparison to those truly involved in this but I thought it might be nice to hear an outside look on this. Therefore I'd like to say thanks for the link.
I agrre that the RP board was/is very strong - it actually took me completely by surprise to realise how busy the RP thread was when I first arrived. I think that if they choose to stay or choose to move elsewhere in time then that is entirely their decision.
If I could suggest something here, I think that a possible answer to preventing another vote on this recurring in the future would be to make some sort of protection or policy to say that they will not be removed at all and will remain functional as long as it is possible to do so. I don't know how possible this is and it doesn't have to be as I have said but you can see the picture.
